I went to Don Edwards San Francisco Bay refuge, by Dumbarton Bridge, just by the road, to take pictures of pelicans etc ... but this bird was not at all happy with my presence. As soon as I got there, it started making a fuss and began dive-bombing me. I have crazy video of it trying to attack me. I backed off, gave it space, tried to come back, it did it again. I had to leave that area and go elsewhere. Don't know if it was mating in that area, had babies, or what.
My second morning out looking ... the first morning foiled by a river preventing me from getting to a nest I'd seen ... this time I had marked on GPS where my daughter had seen a nest when we drove by the previous day, and came back early and sat there waiting. Eventually success, as the eagle flew back. It ended up being too far away, and not something I could get to, so only distant shots. But, cool all the same, as this was my first time ever going out looking myself like this, rather than told where to go, and to actually find an eagle.
